The CBO is a shining path for community development….

As many good stories starts...This is not a fairytale, but a real fact. It’s the tale of a Community Based Organization (CBO) named Char Madras Somonnito Chashi Kollan Somobai Somittee (situated in Char Madras Union, Charfashion-Bhola), supported by RFLDC-Barisal. Char Madras CBO was established in 03 March’2009.  The CBO consist of 130 members with 99 men and 31 woman. The CBO is engaged in share-savings and have collected among the members in all 164800/- .The members decided to use these funds money for the development of poor household’s Income Generating Activities (IGA), with the aim of  for improving their livelihood and income generation. Naznin Grasps Delight

Sultana Naznin is a successful FFS member. She lives in Putiakhali village of Bibichini Union in Betagi Upazila, along with her 3 children and husband. When I asked her about where she was selling the eggs of her poultry farm, she answered me “Where do I sell the eggs? I offer them firstly them to my Children”.

Once upon a time, not long back, the family was very poor. Her husband Joynal Mallik was only the member in the family to earn cash income as he was a day laborer, but he doesn’t obtain work in every day. Field activities of RFLDC-Barisal at Betagi Upazila in Barguna District.

Together with the District Coordinator Mr. Rabiul Amin and Upazila Coordinator Ms. Farjana Mustahid, The Senior Advisor of RFLDC-Barisal, on February 13th, visited the field activities of RFLDC-Barisal at Betagi Upazila in Barguna District. Firstly the team visited an Input Supply Sales Centre at Kawnia Bazar in Buramazumder Union. The sales centre is owned and operated by the CBO and they are trying to supply quality inputs at a reasonable prize and in time.  One of the good initiatives initiated by the Sale centre, though limited, is output marketing, by the selling farm eggs through the CBO. RFLDC showed me a new way in my life, just like a light house...

Tears of hardship come in the eyes of Belal when he thinks back about the life he passed 4 to 5 years ago. He had a life with four children with great hardship. He carried his family on farming with just ten decimal of farmland, and worked as well as a day laborer. Belal was then trying hard to find out how he could get rid of the permanent situation of economic scarcity in the family.
